Why Mulch
Mulching assists with water conservation as it stops the top layer of the soil from drying out, keeps the soil moist and helps to reduce watering. Mulching will also help prevent weeds and keep your soil temperature consistant helping to promote plant growth. When using an organic mulch you will also be feeding your soil by adding extra organic material to the soil as the mulch breaks down. For best results we recommend mulching your garden beds to a depth of between 7cm and 10cm
One of the most effective ways of improving the soil in your garden beds is by applying an organic mulch or woodchip. Mulch has an amazing number of benefits including:

Mulch or Woodchip
There are two main types of mulch we sell at Richmond Sand Gravel and Landscaping, Mulch and Wood-chip. Mulches will break down quicker adding nutrients to your garden bed whilst wood chips will take longer to break down giving you coverage for longer. We also stock a range of mulches that have natural termite resistance which are perfect for mulching garden beds close to or against your house.

A natural cypress chip that is dyed with a red dye. This Chip is white ant deterrent and the colour lasts for approximately 1.5 to 2 years.It is a fantastic bright red chip that makes a bold feature of the colours in any garden.It also makes the colours in the plants tend to seem more intense in these gardens. -
Unlike many commercial mulches or chip products, Tea Tree Mulch does not draw moisture away from where it is needed, overheat surrounding plants, does not contain weeds, seeds or chemicals breaks down fairly quickly to feed your plants. After removing existing weeds, a 75mm – 100mm coverage is recommended application. -
This mulch is white ant deterrent product.It is a blend of the natural cypress chip and the cypress mulch combined together and chipped very finely. -
Our Hard Wood Chip varying in colours from light yellows through to reds is a long lasting budget chip perfect for large gardens, however it is not white ant resistant.Recommended to be laid 100mm depth.Lasts 18 months +. -
Soft Fall is a certified grade pine bark that is Government approved for children playgrounds. It is designed to give them a soft landing when falling off play equipment. -
